Narrative from previous owner:
I have owned this airplane since February of 2003. I bought this particular airplane because of the history. I knew the long time late owner, who had owned the airplane for more than 20 years. I owned two other airplanes that had been serviced by the shop that the former owner owned and ran before he passed away. I therefore understood the standards to which the airplane had been maintained. I am reluctantly selling it because I bought a Cessna 421. I have flown my family in all over the country and to the Bahamas. It has been the most fun airplane to fly I have ever owned. I personally oversaw the 2003 refurbishment of the interior and avionics. No expense was spared on either project. In fact, I have invested over $100,000 in those two projects alone. Additionally, I have spared no expense in the maintenance of the airplane, including replacement of all aux-tank bladders. The paint is as it was when I bought the plane, and is probably an 8 on a scale of 10. The de-ice boots are in excellent condition, as are the prop heaters. This truly is a 200 knot airplane. I file IFR on 99% of my flights and flight plan at 200 knots. The plane performs best between 6000 MSL and 12000MSL At those altitudes and at 65% power, the plane will true between 198 and 201. At 75% power you can see 205. The airplane is FAST and FUN. I have hangared the plane since I bought it and it was hangared when it was owned by the shop owner.
When completing the avionics upgrade, the plane was totally rewired. This job was not a re-work of any existing equipment. Almost every component was carefully selected and.the entire installation was completed over several months of down time. This approach resulted in a 50 pound gain in useful load. Additionally, when I designed the panel, I relocated the engine performance instruments from the co-pilot's panel to the upper center panel, as in all 400 series airplanes. They are much easier to read there. The entire panel was blue-printed and the panels were CAD designed and water-jet cut. After a perfect fit and configuration was assured, they were carefully color-matched to the leather interior components. It is truly spectacular.
